Julia Ogun is a boundary-breaking voice in today’s global music landscape, weaving together raw emotion and sonic experimentation. With a cultural identity rooted in both Eastern Europe and Africa, she transforms tradition into futurism, creating music that transcends genre and borders. As a DJ, Julia has performed worldwide at destinations including Spain, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Canada, Thailand, Georgia, and Russia.

Her work is an exploration of self-investigation, timeless human dilemmas, and the dual forces of love and hatred, reflecting the paradoxes that define our world. Whether behind the decks, where she crafts hypnotic journeys of Amapiano, Afro House, Tech House, and Rave, or on stage as a singer confronting existential themes through electro-synth-pop and IDM, Julia delivers an immersive experience that is as cerebral as it is visceral.

Her forthcoming debut album Freedom captures this dualism—deep vocals, poetic intensity, and sonic landscapes that provoke both reflection and release. Julia Ogun isn’t just performing music; she’s constructing worlds for audiences ready to dive beneath the surface.

Julia Ogun & Tolga Baklacioglu “Evolution as one”
Julia Ogun is launching her new project OGUN with the debut album Freedom, a daring 11-track journey across genres—electro, IDM, synth pop, house, and techno. Uniting deep lyrics and soulful vocals with classic instruments and a vibrant palette of synthesizers, Julia creates music to both move and challenge listeners. Some tracks invite energetic dancing, while others invite introspection and contemplation about our world and each person's role within it.

OGUN draws inspiration from avant-garde and experimental artists like The Knife, Yves Tumor, Royksopp, Aphex Twin, and Björk. The project’s vision is realized fully in live performances, where Julia plays electronic instruments and sings, joined by conceptually “freak” dancers in surreal costumes who interact with the audience, turning each show into an immersive, otherworldly experience.

Freedom is poised to mark a bold new chapter for Julia Ogun as she blends club energy, emotional intensity, and deep reflection into a unique sonic world.

Artist Statement: Julia Ogun

“With Freedom, I set out to create a space where music can be both a mirror and a catalyst—a place that invites listeners to dance with abandon and also reflect deeply on the timeless dilemmas and dualities that define us. Drawing inspiration from artists who challenge boundaries, this album is my journey towards blending raw emotion, classic musicianship, and the limitless possibilities of electronic sound.

OGUN isn’t just a project—it’s an immersive world. When I perform, surrounded by electronic instruments and surreal dancers, I want audiences to feel transported: to rethink, to reconnect, to revel together in both the joy and the mystery of our shared existence. Freedom is a beginning, an invitation, and above all, a celebration of what happens when we allow music to move us—inside and out.”
